POSITION SUMMARY

Sony R&D US Laboratory, San Jose, CA in Sony Corporate of America is seeking to welcome the best and the brightest into our world-class R&D team, and if you're up to the challenge, we'd love to see what you've got. We're inventing right here the technology and products that go on to touch customer's lives all over the world, and soon we could be working to bring your ideas to life.

Accountabilities:

  • Perform research toward next generation wireless communication solutions and systems.

  • Evaluate and perform related link/system-level-simulations.

  • Provide support for contributions to wireless LAN (IEEE802.11) technical standards development, and/or contribute to new invention disclosures, or conference papers.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a master degree or be a Ph.D candidate in Electrical/Communication Engineering or in Computer Science.

  • Experience on link level or system level simulation is required with excellent programming language knowledge, such as Matlab, C/C++, and Python.

  • Excellent wireless communication background with experience on wireless systems such as WLAN or cellular. Prior experience with standards (3GPP or IEEE 802.11) is a big plus. Knowledge and experience with WLAN communication protocol stack, including IEEE802.11 WLAN Physical layer (PHY) and/or Medium Access Control (MAC) will be appreciated.

  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent track record of research in the field of wireless communication, including high quality publications and/or patents is preferred.

  • Experience in implementing AI/ML algorithms for solving challenging problems preferably in wireless communication system design is a big plus.

  • Excellent teamwork skill, oral and written communications skills are preferred.

The target hourly rate for this internship is $45.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
